U.S. job openings decline unexpectedly in December - NASDAQ

Investing.com - The number of job openings in the U.S. declined unexpectedly in December, official data showed on Tuesday.


In a report, the U.S. Labor Department said that the number of job openings, excluding the farming industry, fell to 3.99 million in December from 4.03 million in November. Analysts had expected the number of job openings to rise to 4.04 million in December.


Following the release of the data, the U.S. dollar was little changed against the euro, with EUR/USD adding 0.01% to trade at 1.3646.


Meanwhile, U.S. stock markets were higher after the open. The Dow Jones Industrial Average tacked on 0.35%, the S&P 500 picked up 0.35%, while the Nasdaq 100 added 0.4%.
