The world’s oldest living man, Alexander Imich, died at the age of 111 in his apartment at the Upper West Side in New York on Sunday.
Reports from NBC said that he died at 9:03 am, said his friends Trish Corbett and Michael Mannion. The two were taking care of him.
The Gerontology Research Group’s data stated that Imich was given the Guinness World Record for being the oldest living man after Arturo Licata, an Italian, died before he turned 112th.
Imich said in a Reuters interview that he has a long life because of his good genes. His father, who lived a hygienic life, reached his 90s. He also said that it may be due to the fact that he never had any children.
He was born on February 4, 1903 in Poland. In 1941, he moved to the US with his spouse Wela and stayed in Connecticut. After his wife died in 1986, he moved to New York.
