NEW BRIGHTON, Minn. (AP) - A state trooper says a Good Samaritan showed "superhuman strength" when he bent the door of a burning SUV to rescue another motorist on a Minnesota freeway.

Fifty-two-year-old Bob Renning was driving on Interstate 35W in New Brighton Sunday when he saw a vehicle behind him on fire.

Renning tells the Star Tribune (http://strib.mn/1m51GUH ) he pulled on the SUV's door handle, but it wouldn't open. He saw the driver pounding against the window.

Renning gripped the door frame, braced his foot against the door and pulled. The State Patrol says the door bent in half and the glass shattered.

State Trooper Zachary Hill who was at the scene soon after says he couldn't have achieved the same even with a crow bar.

New Brighton is 10 miles north of Minneapolis.
