Here's the first trailer for Jimi: All Is By My Side, which should give Jimi Hendrix fans a good idea of how Andre Benjamin will portray the titular guitar legend.
Benjamin, also known as Outkast's Andre 3000, learned to play his guitar Hendrix-style, left-handed on a right-handed guitar turned upside down.
All Is By My Side, written by 12 Years a Slave scribe John Ridley, focuses on Hendrix's early days in New York and London, where he meets a model named Linda Keith (Imogen Poots), who played a major role in his career development.
Don't expect to see any of Hendrix's actual music. Ridley and crew never acquired the rights to the late singer's catalog, so most of the film is set in his pre-fame days.
All Is By My Side opens nationwide September 26th.
