Stress hormone tests through smartphone apps will be a reality pretty soon. This is going to make things easy for many doctors who suffer from stress.
People working on the project have said that they are very close from launching several apps that will take care of many frequent issues that people face almost on daily basis. These researchers say that the app on smartphone will be easy to use and anyone can use them.
The latest research was announced before the world during the last week’s International Society of Endocrinology and the Endocrine Society in Chicago meet. The meeting was held in Chicago and named ICE/ENDO 2014.
Researchers while announcing their app said that the tests would be very easy and will require nothing more than simple tube, some software and a saliva sample to conduct the tests. The app will be able to easily measure levels of the stress hormone cortisol.
Dr. Joel Ehrenkranz, director of diabetes and endocrinology at Intermountain Healthcare in Murray, Utah says, “We have designed a method by which anyone with a smartphone will be able to measure their salivary cortisol level quickly, easily and inexpensively”.
Another fact that will definitely go in its favor is that the test will cost merely as much as $5 and will give results instantly. Joel Ehrenkranz says, “Parts of the United States and the rest of the world that lack facilities to measure cortisol will now be able to perform this essential diagnostic test”.
