Live: Good morning from MetLife Stadium - Boston Herald

Sunday, December 21, 2014

Hello from MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, N.J., where the Patriots (11-3) and Jets (3-11) are less than three hours shy of kicking off their Week 16 matchup.

The Patriots can secure a first-round bye with a victory, and that could turn into the No. 1 overall seed tomorrow night if the Broncos lose in Cincinnati. Regardless, the Pats will lock up the top seed with two victories to close the season.

The Patriots have already ruled out Julian Edelman (concussion, thigh), LeGarrette Blount (shoulder) and Kyle Arrington (hamstring), so they'll announce four more inactive players at 11:30 a.m.

The Pats have arrived at the stadium, and a handful of staffers are roaming the field but the players are still inside. With Edelman out, it might be a while before anyone hits the field for early warmups.

It was a quiet scene outside the stadium, but such is life for the fans of a three-win team the week before Christmas. It wouldn't be all that surprising if Patriots fans traveled well enough to make this appear like a pseudo-home game.

One other storyline today: This is shaping up to be Rex Ryan's final home game as the Jets coach, as everyone in the football world believes he'll be fired at the end of the season -- or, about eight days from now.

Keep it here throughout the morning, and we'll have you up to speed with everything happening here in New Jersey.
