NFL: Peterson's suspension lifted after he missed 15 games - Columbus Dispatch

Friday, April 17, 2015

Adrian Peterson’s suspension is over.

The Minnesota Vikings running back was informed yesterday that, effective today, the NFL has reinstated him as an active player and that he can participate in all team activities.

Peterson, the league’s MVP in 2012, was suspended without pay on Nov. 18 and for the remainder of the 2014 season for violating the league’s personal conduct policy. Two weeks earlier, he pleaded no contest in Texas to reckless assault on his 4-year-old son, whom he had disciplined by striking with a tree switch.

Peterson played the opener against St. Louis, then sat out the remaining 15 games of the season while tangling with the league over the discipline.

Peterson’s agent has said he wants his client to play elsewhere, but the Vikings have said they plan to keep Peterson, who is set to earn a base salary of $12.75 million next season.

“We look forward to Adrian rejoining the Vikings,” the team said in a statement.
