World's first robotic chef prepares crab bisque - The Silver Ink

robotic kitchenThe United Kingdom company Moley Robotics has unveiled the world’s first robotic kitchen during the Hanover Messe industrial robotics show in London.

This is the world’s first robotic kitchen prototype and this robot can only produce crab bisque at the moment.

The kitchen robot now only consists of two robotic arms. There are humanoid hands at the end of the arms.

All the stuff needed for the recipe and the equipment is positioned in front of the robotic arms, this includes, sink, appliances, oven, stovetop, ingredients etc.

All the ingredients are placed on the worktop and the robot’s operator then presses the start button in the personal computer that operates the robot. The robot then copies the steps of the 2011 MasterChef winner Tim Anderson.

Moley has recorded the movements of the Anderson in the database and when the PC which runs the Robots Operating System is started, it executes the steps in the database, which the robot follows.

Everything must be positioned correctly if anything is misplaced then instead of cream it will pick up crab and if the saucepan is located a little bit far then it will grab air molecules.

The robot will create the crab bisque dish in half an hour.

The company is planning to produce robotic arms cheaply so that they can sell a complete Robotic Kitchen for £110,000 or $14,600.

There is a room for improvement in computer vision, so that the robot’s operations are safer and consistent.

The consumer’s version of robotic kitchen will have an iTunes style library of recipes available. Mobile user can order their robot kitchen to prepare a downloaded recipe.

The most important question is how it tastes, well there are no worries, it taste absolutely delicious and yummy just like Anderson’s disk.
