Mike Huckabee, the former Arkansas governor said on Friday that he will announce to supporters on April 5, about whether he should follow the nomination of President under the banner of the Republican Party. Earlier in the day, Huckabee has insisted that he has a unique ability that proved to be elected as Governor of Arkansas for 11 years.
Huckabee has shocked the US political world when he defeated John McCain and Mitt Romney that are better funded in the Iowa caucuses. But since that victory, Huckabee has failed to garner greater political support. So far, Huckabee claimed that he knew only one Republican who has been consistent in the fight against the Clinton’s political machine.
Huckabee also expressed his intention to exit with momentum the initially in-the-nation contest. About his overall performance in New Hampshire, he downplayed the expectations as more moderate candidates normally find more support in New Hampshire. However, he added that in South Carolina, which is the third nominating state in the nation, he expected to do well.
Earlier in the day, while speaking to reporters, Huckabee insisted that no decision has yet been made about his running though things were progressing with regard to his preparations. He sounded more like a candidate – all-but-declared and stated that a super PAC has been put in place to support a likely candidacy from him. He added that he was touting for his network of supporters in Iowa where Huckabee won the 2008 Presidential caucuses which was also the first in the nation.
Huckabee also highlighted what he termed as the unique ability to beat the political machine of the Clintons pointing to his success with the election for Arkansas governor, which job he held for about 11 years between 1996 and 2007.
Huckabee also added that he knew only one person from the Republican field that ran consistency against the political machine of the Clintons and that in most of his races, both Hillary and Bill Clinton returned to Arkansas to campaign for his opponents. Therefore, he said, he knew the process well and the good news for him was that he had defeated the political machine.
Huckabee was catapulted to the status of a political star consequent to his stunning win in the Iowa caucuses against Sen. John McCain who was funded much better and Mitt Romney, the former governor of Massachusetts. However, Huckabee could not capitalize on the early success to form a national organization with the capabilities of securing the nomination.
