Police-Identifies-Gunman-of-Phoenix-Murder-Suicide-incident

Five adults were found dead in Phoenix after a shooting incident on Thursday related to the family business disputes. On Friday, the police have identified the shooter as Driss Diaeddinn. The victim is the family of the shooter.

According to Crump, the shooter and his family came from Morocco, North Africa. During the negotiations went, the police tried to communicate with shooter using the Arabic language. According to the shooter’s little brother, the incident was a burst of family conflict. Television footage showed several SWAT officers broke into the shooter’s home by breaking the glass on the back porch.

The dead bodies of three men and two women were discovered by Phoenix police on Thursday. On Friday investigators identified the gunman as a 50 years old Driss Diaeddinn while the victims were idenified as 38 years old Reda Diaeddinn, 56 years old Dodi Faed, 76 Kenza Benzakour and 26 years old Meriem Ben Yahia.

The brothers had apparently lived in Phoenix for several years, but some of the victims were visiting from out of the country.

“Our dispatcher could hear shots fired in the background while that call was coming in,” Crump said. “A caller had been able to escape the home at that point, get out and start to give us information.” Crump said the family had origins in Morocco. During an hours-long standoff before the bodies were found, police used a megaphone to try to communicate with the occupants of the home, addressing the family in Arabic. The Arizona Republic reported that one neighbor said the family owned a transportation service. Because the HOA allowed only two vehicles in the driveway at any one time, the family purchased a home in an adjacent neighborhood in order to park their fleet, according to the newspaper.

A sister of the suspect told investigators the incident had escalated from an argument over a family business, Crump said.

“It’s very obvious that whether it was the heat of passion of the moment or the anger of what happened he certainly went to great lengths to make sure that each of them were dead,” he told a news conference.

TV footage showed several SWAT team officers breaking the glass of a back patio door to enter the home. The SWAT team used a robot to search the house before sending in a dog and officers, Crump said. A police perimeter remained in place well into the night, as investigators padded around the scene in booties to document evidence and detectives went door to door.

Police were working with consular officers to notify their families.
